"Summer escapes, daydreams and tourist traps"

Good Morning Friends!       We've officially passed the first official day of summer and are now surrounded by ever-increasing temperatures and that great summer sun. Admittedly, summer has never been one of my favorite times of the year. Whether it was because of the ridiculous heat and ever-annoying humidity that came with this season, lack of schoolwork to do (I am that weirdo who missed having homework to do), or the long unstructured time span, whatever the reason, I just wasn't a huge fan of summer vacation. However, as I have gotten older, I've come to appreciate the simplicity of summertime.       Even when I may long for the structure of a normal school semester, I realize the blessing of a break from all of the stress that comes with professors and assignments. Even when the sun feels like it is trying to bake the whole world and my hair has decided it hates me and expands into a stupid lions mane because of the humidity, yay for those unruly curls, I pause to

-Fathers-

Good Morning Friends, I've been thinking a lot these past few days, and I never could quite find the words to express what I have been wanting to say. With Father's Day this past weekend, I suddenly felt something laid on my heart to write about. Most people think about Father's Day and think of it as a completely wonderful day to celebrate all the amazing things their dads are, sharing those happy memories with the world. While that is great, something came to me...something I hope can help someone out there. The thing is, for some of you, that may not be a very real reality. Maybe your dad has passed away, left you, or hurt you... whatever your situation may be, it could be that a day to celebrate someone who has been all but less than perfect in your life is the last thing you would want to do. It's a hard thing to deal with, a day to dread, an easy thing to feel left out or jealous about, and frankly, that's okay. It is okay to feel sad and not be excited for

-Bloom-

Hi Friends!  So here it is late Saturday night, and I sit at my laptop next to this vibrant, lovely, and super cheerful vase of flowers. I'm thinking about what I want to write about tonight when suddenly I look up at these flowers and remember an old book I had read about the secret codes behind flower giving. I remember thinking it was really interesting and such a cute, fun idea, so I would share some of it with you tonight.  Did you know that specific types of flowers have different meanings behind them? Basically, the "love language" or code behind giving flowers. I personally LOVE flowers, especially wildflowers. A jar of fresh flowers can brighten up a dreary day and add a spark of festivity and happiness.    Here are a few flowers and their meanings: Carnations symbolize pride and beauty Red Roses symbolize romantic love White roses symbolize purity, innocence, and new beginnings Yellow Roses symbolize exuberance, caring, and friendship  Sunflowers

-Notes and such-

Hello Friends!   Here are some really good pieces of advice and random notes from sermons that I typed up. I really felt impacted by some of these and hope they will do the same for you. Let me know what stuck out to you or what your favorites are:)  Notes: - There is an empty grave for every fear - Prayer is an exercise in humility - How do I know God can help me? Because He rose Jesus Christ from the dead - Prayer should be a first, not a last, resort - We have one life to live, it will soon be past, Only what’s done for God will last - Set a reminder on your phone to pray - Pray through scripture - If someone asks you to pray for them, pray for them right then, don’t wait and risk forgetting. If they asked for prayer, they must need it right then. - Use prayer prompts, pray for the people you are reminded of randomly. Don’t question why, God made you think of them, pray. - Christ has removed the prayer barrier, prayer reminds us that life is not abo
